When Payton was born she always favored her right side more than her left and Bodie and I didn't think anything of it because Hunter favored his left side more than his right when he was born and nothing happened to him, but unfortunatly not so with Payton. Her right side is growing faster than her left causing the right side of her forehead to stick out more so her doctor referred us to a head specilaist and that doctor said she would have to wear a helmet for 23 hrs a day (except when we give her a bath), for the next 3 months in order to stop the rapid growth of her right side. Basically the helmet will put pressure on her left side to get it growing even with her right and release pressure from her right side so that her left side can grow. She has what is called
Plagiocephaly which is a condition characterized by a parallelogram head shape and a persistent flattened spot on the back or one side of the head in which the baby spends the most of his or her time. So last we went and got her helmet after a month of fitting and molding to get hers just right for her head and she is doing so good, better than we thought. 3 Months will go by quick and she won't remember a thing. If we didn't do the helmet than by the time she turned 1 she would of had to get surgery to reposition her brain and that is much more risky so we went ahead with the helmet hoping and praying that all will go smoothly and she won't need the surgery! So if you can keep her in your prayers, that would be greatly aprreciated. So here is Payton in her helmet for the next 3 months!
